Love Letters

18.06.24 - 19.06.24 by A.R. Gurney

Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, both born to wealth and position, are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards.

The play tells the story of Andrew and Melissa and their amusing friendship and romantic liasons taking them from their first school days through to adulthood and beyond.

Their letters are all funny, compelling and moving and their words allow us to come to know them both. We share their good times and their sad days, their highs and lows.

There will be a matinee production of this play which will be a first for Ecclesfield Priory Players.

We are trying to copy the successful experience of other small theatres and offer our audiences a time to visit the EPPiC Theatre which they find more suitable.

This is a play which has enjoyed many successes on Broadway and the West End starring famous actors of stage, screen and television. The cast lists read like a who’s who of Acting Greats including Dame Elizabeth Taylor …. “When I last acted on stage I could not imagine ever doing so again”.

Dame Elizabeth had not acted for 24 years when she returned to the stage for a World Aids Day Charity fundraiser and tickets sold for $2500.

The author was among the A list audience who contributed millions of dollars.

2.30pm and  7.30pm Tuesday June 18th     7.30 pm Wednesday June 19th at the EPPiC Theatre , Ecclesfield
